These no roll sprinkle sugar cookies are crisp on the edges, ultra-buttery, and literally melt in your mouth. No frosting is needed! After one delectable bite, you will know exactly what I mean! Colored sanding sugar or coarse sugar crystals make for a nice touch though.
About these No Roll Sprinkle Sugar Cookies
This recipe is from my lovely oldest sister Jolene who has been making these for over a decade and fortunately was willing to let me share this recipe with you! Time after time, these have been popular with people of all ages. They can be made "just because" or any holiday, as well as baby or bridal showers! They can be customized so easily with the sprinkles to fit your occasion.
One of my nephews ate at least a dozen over the course of three days over the Fourth of July. That says a lot because he is a really picky eater, even with sweets! We also make these no roll sprinkle sugar cookies several times in the winter months and always for Christmas.
Sugar Cookie Tips & Common FAQs
Unlike most sugar cookie recipes, this recipe uses a generous amount of melted butter and vegetable oil. It seems like a lot, but do not be alarmed because it makes a very large batch of dough. The cookie dough may even seem oily, but I promise the cookies are not greasy. They just bake up beautifully and the texture is divine.
If you want a smaller batch of cookies, just half the recipe. It is very easy to scale down.
Yes, as long as the baked cookies are wrapped well and kept air tight, you can freeze these cookies for up to 4 months. Just let thaw at room temperature before serving for a couple of hours.
The criss-cross pattern is made from using the tines of a fork, just like what you would do for peanut butter cookies. It helps the cookies bake evenly and adds to their visual appearance. Just make sure you dip your fork in some regular sugar to make sure the fork tines do not stick to the dough each time.
The next time you have a family gathering or are in the mood for some amazing sugar cookies, give this recipe a try! They are a cinch to throw together and fun for little ones to help prepare, too. Be prepared to watch them disappear quickly. Happy baking!

These sugar cookies are perfect. They are also quick to make because you don't have to roll them out. When I make them I sprinkle the top with colored sugar sprinkles!

Can you make these without melting the butter? Can u use butter at room temperature instead?
laurenhumphreys
I have not personally tested it with using softened butter, but you could certainly try.
