Classic Pesto

This classic pesto features all of the traditional favorites - fresh basil, olive oil, pine nuts, parmesan cheese, and garlic. You can enjoy it on pasta or even mixed with mayo as a sandwich spread!

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups fresh basil loosely packed
  • 2 garlic cloves coarsely chopped
  • ¼ cup pine nuts or walnuts
  • ½ cup parmesan cheese shredded or shaved
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • In a food processor, add the basil, garlic, pine nuts, and parmesan cheese.
  • Pulse until the fresh basil is in small pieces. Pour in the olive oil and pulse until combined. Season with salt and pepper based on your liking.
  • Pesto can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Leftovers may also be frozen.
